How to Come Up with Content Ideas for Your Coaching Blog

After you design the perfect coaching website to convert visitors into clients [iPage: link some of the previous text to Designing Your Coaching Website to Convert Visitors into Clients, it’s time to start a blog.

A blog on your new coaching website will attract more visitors, land more conversions, and set you miles ahead of your competition. But it’s not always easy coming up with compelling content to share on a rolling basis. Below are some ideas for things you can do to come up with content ideas for your coaching blog.

Monitor Social Media Sites

See what other coaches and their clients share on social media on a regular basis. Verify what types of content they like and share the most, and see what topics they engage with. See if they engage with longer posts or shorter posts, and take note of what topic categories they care about most. For instance, if you notice that a lot of your potential clients are worried about fulfilling their New Year’s resolutions, you could write a post on your blog regarding best practices for how they can set themselves up to reach their New Year’s goals.

Rely on Google

Google is the world’s most popular search engine and handles millions of search queries every single day. If you are struggling to find popular and trending topics relevant to coaching and what people who seek coaching care about, sign up for Google Alerts and monitor Google Trends. You can receive daily emails with trending stories and content relevant to the keywords and topics you and your target audience care about. From this, you can draw inspiration and insight into what people around the world or in your local region are already searching for and reading about.

You can also use Google’s “People Also Ask” box, which appears as you’re typing in queries into its search engine, to see what terms and phrases people are using when they’re looking online for coaches or information about coaching. And you can use Google Analytics to keep your coaching blog’s content updated and fresh without always necessarily having to start from scratch. Solicit Others for Guest Posts

If you know of a local celebrity who claims coaching services saved his or her career, or a reputable professional who can vouch for your coaching services, then ask them to write a guest post that you can share on your blog. You may also want to consider asking industry professionals, well-known keynote speakers, and researchers to share guest blog posts about the benefits of coaching, how it works and what to expect, etc. – especially if those individuals have written a book that is well-known or has received an award of some sort.

Interview a Satisfied Client and Share Others’ Success Stories

People expect coaches to lift others up and help them succeed, so share stories on your blog that embody this. Share blog posts where you interview previous or existing clients. Those clients can shed light on what your coaching services have meant to them personally and professionally by stating in their own words why it’s so valuable and what others can expect. These types of posts can also offer the social proof you need for promoting your coaching business; people are more likely to believe it when someone else says how amazing your coaching services and their experiences have been.

Share How-To Posts

Share blog posts about how to reach goals, how to get more organized, how to find a coach, etc. Essentially, to garner more interest in your coaching business, you’ll want to provide your blog audience with insight into what you can help them achieve from the get-go by providing them with helpful tutorials and information. What’s more, people search all the time for information about how to do things. “How-to” posts will help improve your search engine optimization strategy and blog rankings.

Read Books, Articles, and Industry-Related Research

If you’re passionate about coaching, chances are high that you already have a lot of books and articles about the coaching industry, best practices of well-established coaches, and more. So, let these valuable resources inspire topics you should be writing about too as a coach. Use the information that you find most compelling and exciting about your industry and craft content about that.

Consider Video Content

Video content will account for around 82 percent of all consumer internet traffic by 2021. You should strongly consider sharing interesting videos in the blog posts that you publish on your website. Share videos of interviews, virtual events that you host, and industry-related events that you attend. So, as you brainstorm blog topics, also think about what types of videos you can capture to enhance the written content.

Write a Review

Did you attend an industry-related event for coaches recently, or read a best-seller that was written by a well-known coach? Have you used a new technology platform that you think all other coaches or those being coached should know about? Then write reviews about it in your blog posts. Your audience will want to know what you think about these things.

Pay Attention to Feedback from Your Clients and Audience

To make sure that your blog posts always hit the mark for your target audience, regularly ask them what they want to read about – and then write about it. For instance, when clients and audience members comment on or email you about an existing post, you might discover that they want to learn more about how you started your business or what types of tips you have for people who are new to hiring a coach. Use their feedback to trigger ideas for blog posts about those topics.

Habitually Attend Networking Events

You can learn a lot about what is trending in coaching, new best practices, and so much more when you regularly attend networking and industry-related events. Then you’ll want to write about what you experience and learn. Additionally, you will meet others with experiences and stories that inspire you. And you will meet people who might be able to send you guest blog posts in the future.

It doesn’t have to be a struggle to come up with content ideas if you’re interested in starting a successful coaching blog. Keep this post nearby as a resource and for a little bit of inspiration.
