Mobile Apps Taking the World by Storm!

7 Mobile Apps to Check Out

You can get apps that do just about anything, ranging from the helpful to entertaining to downright silly. Because you know you’ve always needed an app that claims to be a “kitchen scale,” but rather than actually weighing ingredients, it guesses the weight. Tip: Avoid this one. But what’s on the other end of the scale (pun intended). Here are some apps that are worthy of your attention:

  1. Aqua Mail
If you have an Android and you’re unhappy with the default email apps that are on your phone, Aqua Mail is an alternative. It has been downloaded well over one million times on the Google Play store, and gets great reviews. It handles all the popular email services including Gmail, Yahoo and Hotmail, as well as email protocols like IMAP, POP3 and SMTP. With Aqua Mail you can set up your email app the way you want it.
  1. 1Password
Making passwords secure and then remembering them is impossible if you do it the way that security experts advise. This means using passwords that are long and that have a random mixture of letters, numbers and symbols. And it means using different passwords for each of the services you sign up to. 1Password is an award-winning app that makes the impossible possible. It’s on the expensive side (for an app) at $18, but it stores all your passwords so that you don’t have to remember them. It also stores the details of your credit cards.
  1. WPS Office + PDF
WPS Office + PDF has some of the most impressive statistics of any app on the Google Play store. It has been downloaded over 50 million times and it has over 700,000 reviews – 630,000 of which are either four or five-star reviews. It is an office suite that allows you to view and create documents. One of the most powerful features is that it can handle almost any document type, including PDFs.
  1. Periscope
Periscope brings live streaming video to the up-to-the-minute communication offered by social media. You can broadcast from anywhere that you have a broadband connection. Your audience can watch the broadcast on Twitter. Plus they can tweet and interact with you in real time.
  1. TuneIn Radio
TuneIn Radio is one of the biggest radio apps available. You can get it on iTunes and Google Play, with the Android version alone generating over 100 million downloads. With this app you can listen to live streams of over 100,000 real radio stations from around the world, or you can listen to on demand programs.
  1. Moves
Moves is an app that stands out among the health and fitness apps because of its simplicity. It tracks your movements throughout the day, whether you are walking, cycling or running. It then calculates how many calories you burn with each activity so you can monitor if you are achieving your goals. You can even set up those goals on the app to help you monitor your progress.
  1. Camera+
If you want to get more out of the camera on your iPhone, Camera+ is the app to do it. It costs $2.99 but over 10 million people have bought and installed it. It brings SLR features to your iPhone camera including setting the exposure separately from the focus, or giving you an enhanced digital zoom. It also adds a front flash function to your camera, lets you check the horizon level, and has several different shooting modes to choose from.

Whether you want more efficient email, fitness motivation, or more beautiful photos, there’s an app for that. And it’s waiting for you (as long as you remember your password to the iTunes or Android store).
